Thursday Portrait Group
Every Thursday at 2 PM, the Portrait Group meets at Redland Coast Art Society, located at 53 Mount Cotton Road, Capalaba. Hosted by Angela Bruce, these weekly sessions are designed to foster a warm and welcoming environment for artists of all skill levels. Whether you are just starting out or have been practising for years, you are encouraged to come along and refine your portrait drawing and painting techniques in a supportive group setting.
The group is a fantastic opportunity to develop your abilities and immerse yourself in the creative process, surrounded by fellow artists who share your passion. You’ll find encouragement, inspiration, and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, making every session an enriching experience.
Volunteer sitters play a vital role in the Portrait Group, helping artists perfect their practice by posing for the group. If you are interested in contributing as a sitter, please contact Angela Bruce by calling or texting 0408 150 930.

Gouache Landscape Workshop

Whether you’re new to painting or looking to refine your skills, you’ll learn how to use this richly pigmented medium to capture light, atmosphere, and texture in expressive and personal ways. Through step-by-step 1. explore how to layer, blend, and balance opacity and transparency to bring depth and vibrancy to your landscapes.
Each session focuses on key landscape elements—skies, trees, water, and distant forms—while covering colour harmony, composition, and how to simplify complex scenes. All materials are provided, or you may bring your own if you prefer. Taught by an experienced art educator, this relaxed and supportive course encourages experimentation and creativity, helping you build skills and confidence as you complete a series of studies and finished gouache paintings.
